Below is a short story from Anzel’s blog.
On the bus to the mountain in Beitou, a young lady sits at the left front seat and an old lady sits at the right front seat. There are few passengers in the back of the bus and an elementary school student stands in the middle. Due to the long term journey, most of the people in the back have fallen asleep. Only people in the front are watching the scenery outside the bus window.
Before going up the mountain, the bus arrives near the elementary school at the foot of the mountain. The student rings the bell in order to get off the bus. The driver pulls the bus over to the side of road. One minute passed, passengers curiously have a look what happen. The student is finding coins to pay the fifteen dollars bus fees but he has only a fifty-dollars coin on hand. In Taiwan, the bus driver will not give changes. Although people are watching, no one seems to help him. The bus driver looks at him with the greedy eyes and waits him put the coin into the coin box.
The student hesitates for a while before throw the coin into the box. He speaks out aloud and firmly, ‘I also pay for them two,’ with his finger pointed to the young lady and the old lady.
‘OK~’ the bus driver says that disappointedly.
At that moment, the two passengers are astonished. The old lady quickly passed her fifteen dollars to the student. The student has already leaved the bus before the young lady is awared.
Notice: Most of the bus drivers in Taiwan are very friendly and willing to help passengers. Only some of them have bad attitude.
