生日快樂(Happy Birthday): an Eternally frustrating movie

This movie they would need to pay me for me to suffer by watching it, yes its that bad.
Planed to watch Blood Diamond tonight, was stop by a group of girls(warning) whose got spare advanced ticket(warning2) to watch Happy Birthday(warning3), a romantic love story(major warning), with a poster like the one below.

Code red code red!! Major ballistic fuken warming!!!!! DO NOT WATCH THIS SHIT!!!!

but nope, i did not follow my multi-hundred/year film watching instinct, i had to give into hey-its-FREE instinct. stingy tight ass…

i mean i got nothing to lose watching a free movie…..

So the film started fine, its a slow paced movie narrated by a third person, good cast and cinematography, it was all fine, except the plot.

heres the story, the story begins when a insecure common girl Mi(劉若英) was introduced by her hair stylist friend (who secretly loves her) to college sweetheart Num(古天楽), who’s attractive, popular, intelligent, funny, extremely rich and loves her unrealistically. Mi and Nums relationship is complicated when her insecurity let her to dump her perfect boy friend. After getting dump , Num dated other attractive girl but remain in love with Mi. Mi seems to attract every male appeared in the movie. multi-linguist guy who she met in a wedding loves her, talented musician guy who she met in Japan loves her, charismatic hair stylist guy for the longest time secretly loves her, but no, they were not good enough because she is still in love with Num. Over these years Num and Mi would stay in contact. Num is waiting for Mi to become more secure about him. He would take cares of Mi’s dad, washes Mi’s dads car, tell her dad that he wants to married MI, and pay attention to her whenever her insignificant need arises, even if he is with his women or in a meeting at the office. All this scarifies for Mi, but she is still insecure. What a B*tch!!

At this point of the movie, my heart was screaming in utter frustration giving up all hopes of redemption. I felt trap in this all romantic, will never happen in real life, imagine relationship of inexperience girls, protected me i am the fragile princess fantasies, for eternity.

Finally, the moment of salvation came, Num realize he is wasting time with this insecure, life consuming and narcissistic crazy b*tch and breaks up with her to get marry with someone else and move on. Good boy!!

Mi cries, she is sad, there is no one to love and send me birthday wishes every year no more!!!

….except her loving father, loving friends, loving multi-linguist guy, loving talented musician guy, loving charismatic hair stylist guy….

well i thought, at least Num was able to escape from this b*tch…..
….but its still too early to joy in relive ….because there is a twist…..

In the end of the film Mi loving friends find out, Num didn’t get married in fact, he got cancer. he was lying to her to protect Mi o she would not get sad. Ohou. he is still in love with her and even listen to audio tapes of her as he die away in his hospital bed…..the B*tch just couldn’t let him die in peace…..

and then all is lost.

The only reason i was able to held my sanity during this almost 2 hours of eternal torture was a moment when a little boy about 7 year old siting in front of me with his mum, Start laughing and could not stop, he was totally hooked by a comic moment, and seeing him laugh, i could not stop my self from laughing too. The 2 of us was really laughing out laud even as the plot progress to serious mood. that was my nirvana.

moral of the story.

What can you lose by watching a free movie?

YOUR SANITY.

What can you gain by watching a free movie?

a insecure, life consuming and narcissistic crazy b*tch/wanker detector.

whenever you date someone new, ask if s/he has seen 生日快樂(Happy Birthday) and if s/he likes it, if s/he does
RUN FOR YOU LIFE!!!

p.s. Whose the mother of all thing evil that wrote this god awful movie? Rene Liu(刘若英) the real life actress who plays Mi in the film. Yep, she was staring in her own all romantic, will never happen in real life, imagine relationship of inexperience girls, protected me i am the fragile princess fantasies. Here is a photo of the self-vanity narcissistic B*tch.
